TV Review: The Bold Type

Starring: Katie Stevens, Aisha Dee, Meghan Fahy

Creator: Sarah Watson

Released: 2017

Genre: Comedy/Drama

Another TV show I’ve recently finished is The Bold Type and honestly this show has made its way up to the Top of my list. (Warning Major Spoilers Ahead!)

We follow three friends Jane, Kat and Sutton as they live their lives working at women’s magazine Scarlett and living in the heart of New York City. It’s very Sex and the City in modern day but in the best way.

One thing I love about this show is that it’s fun but its also real. The characters go through real and important issue and struggles that I’m sure many of their viewers can identify with.  We see Jane go through medical issue, Sutton deal with her estranged relationship with her mother as well as her trying to climb the ladder at work and Kat try to figure out who is, even though she thought she had it all figured out as well as dealing with her first relationship and heart break.

This show also represents so many different types of love. We follow Kat as she falls in love with Adena and explores her sexuality. Jane as she goes into a friends with benefits situation, is in a love triangle and deals with the issue of whether to forgive her cheating boyfriend. Sutton also deals with forbidden love. We see her and Richard try to be together and the challenges they face.

I do have to say my favourite part of the show is the friendship between Jane, Kat and Sutton. They all have a great understanding of each other, are there for each other no matter what and their friendship is just so genuine and you can’t help but smile when they are together.

Oh and just a quick note to say how much I love Jaqueline and Oliver and they honestly seem like the best bosses ever

If you can’t tell from this glowing report that I would 100% recommend the show to anyone, then clearly I would. Available on Netflix now!
