Now although this film came out in 2018, I’ve only just got around to watching it now (despicable I know) and honestly have no idea why I waited. This film has every aspect of a good story without making the storyline too complicated or having the run time be over 3 hours long (Titanic I’m looking at you)

Now the first thing I should mention is the incredible graphics of the film. The style of the film is suppose to look like the audience is watching a comic book come to life, and they definitely achieved this. The use of vibrant colours grab attention but also add to the story whether that be to convey a characters feeling or to add sound effects just as you would see in a comic strip.

One of my favourite things about this film is how complex the storyline could be but the writers explained it so well that it is easy for the audience to follow along. They use the same storytelling mode when introducing the different characters, again using the comic book format to convey this.

I like how the film links back to the original Spiderman movies, when we are first being introduced to Spiderman we see him falling in love with MJ, some shot of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben and even that scene from Spiderman 3. They also have villains we are familiar with and even a cameo from the great Stan Lee.

The various Spidermen are also created perfectly. They’re all different enough to bring something new to the group whilst all still being a Spider…person. I think the Jake Johnson being cast as Peter. B. Parker was a great choice and essentially is what would happen if you cut Nick Millar as Spiderman. He had a clear character arc and his and Miles friendship is an important a prominent feature to the storyline. Miles Morale’s storyline was also great as I feel many people could resonate with it. He has been thrown into this role surrendered by people who have being doing it a lot longer and are more skilled and he feels out of his depth. It would be very hard to find someone who hasn’t been in that kind of situation one way or another (although probably not his exact situation)

This film has many moments that will make you laugh but also plenty that will pull at your heart strings, its overall a very easy and brilliant watch and would definitely recommend it.
(I also would just like to take this moment to say Happy New Year! I hope it is filled with health and happiness!)
