Did I go and watch Deadpool and Wolverine at a midnight release screening? Of course I did! However I have decided to wait a few weeks before releasing my review to give a bit more time for people to see it.
In the meantime, I have been rewatching all of the X-Men films (some of which I had only seen once!) so I thought it would fun to go through the series and say my piece!

This film introduces us to the X-Men and the X-Men universe. This is the first time we see many characters from the comics be portrayed on screen and quite brilliantly might I add.

The film is a brilliant introduction to characters who’s journey we end up following for decades. It is also the first time we are introduced to Logan who is trying to find his way in the world with no real memory of the last 15 years. I think we can all agree that Hugh Jackman was born to play Wolverine and does it incredibly. We see him finally find his place as well as Rogue – a character who has run away from home as she cannot control her mutation.

Logan and Rogue’s relationship is one of my favourites not just in this film but in the whole franchise. I feel Logan sympathises with Rogue as he recognises his situation as very similar to hers. She is alone, confused and scared just as he has been for the past 15 years. It’s nice to see the protective side of him and it proves that the whole ‘macho man who cares about no one’ act is just that an act, and although Rogues character can be a little bit annoying at times over all she is vital to the X-Men universe.

This is the first in a series of reviews which I’m very excited to write, let me know your favourite X-Man in the comments below. Mine is Mystique (who technically is an X-Man).
