Film Review: The King’s Man

One of my favourite film franchises is without a doubt Kingsmen. I love that it has that James Bond feel but is more cut throat and overall funnier.

Now just like most people I didn’t rush to see this film as it was announced that none of the cast from the original were going to be in it and it was going to be a prequel, however just last week I saw it was available on Disney plus and I’m incredibly glad I decided to put it on.

Right from the get go this film was interesting and captivating. It had so many twists and turns that I had you constantly guessing what was going to happen next. Sometimes in film this can be annoying and confusing but in this case it was done perfectly.

The cast also played a large role in making this film as brilliant as it is. Ralph Fiennes was an ideal cast and really made the role his own. Harris Dickinson was also great as Conrad, him and Fiennes had a really good father/son dynamic. Gemma Arterton and Djimon Hounsou were also great additions to the cast and perfectly made up the team.

I also realist liked they way the writer linked real historical events to include the Kingsmen. It was very clever and satisfying. The little easter eggs that called back to the originals were also very witty and fun to look out for.

If you’ve thought about watching this film but are yet to get round to it, I would highly recommend it for your next movie night. The King’s Man is available to stream on Disney Plus now.
