Rian Johnson has done it again and produced a sequel that I will controversially say is better than the first. I’m going to try my best to keep this as spoiler free as possible but this is your spoiler warning now just incase I let a small detail slip but don’t worry I’ll keep the hidden twists and turns under wraps.

Firstly I have to talk about the cast as Johnson has done it again. Daniel Craig is back as big time detective Benoit Blanc but I’ll come back to him in just a moment. The ensemble also include Edward Norton, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Leslie Odom Jr and Kathryn Hahn just to name a few. I feel the chemistry these actors had and the dynamic they brought was an incredibly large part of why this movie works so well. The beginning of the film when as an audience we are first introduced to each character we are shown them either at work or home and we get see the variety in each of their lifestyles. A four way phone call soon shows the dynamic of the group and even though they are all very different they are clearly good friends and entices viewers to learn more about how these people’s lives have become intertwined. (Also just a quick mention to the incredible cameos that you really should be on the lookout for)

Going back to Daniel Craig’s performance as Benoit Blanc. Craig plays a world famous detective Benoit Blanc who is the only character from Knives Out to be in the sequel (this is purely because it is an entirely different mystery and it wouldn’t make sense for anyone else to have made an appearance). He is invited to the private island of Miles Bron but by who we don’t know as Miles makes it clear early into the film that it was not him. More about Craigs performance as much as love him as James Bond and trust me he’s my favourite ,I think Benoit Blanc has taken first place as my favourite character of Craig’s. Even though Craig is English in real life he grasps and performs the southern charm perfectly and I for one am very excited to see what Rian Johnson has in store for the character.

Speaking of Johnson I’ll keep this bit short and sweet as I don’t want to risk any major spoilers but the writing of this film is brilliant. There are some great twists that you don’t expect but you also don’t feel that any of them are cliches. You are constantly on your toes and guessing who you should suspect and what will happen next.

If you can’t tell I am a big fan of this film and it is available on Netflix right now!
