So I found a review I wrote a couple of years ago and I thought it would be interesting to upload one of my first ever reviews so enjoy!

One of my favourite genres is action particularly superhero films. I feel Marvel do their films incredibly well and I will be critiquing Marvels 2011 debut of a well known, loved character that is Captain America.

Center to right: Chris Evans plays Captain America and Sebastian Stan plays James “Bucky” Barnes in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, from Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment.

The main story of the film is that it is set in WW2 and the government have a plan to make a super solider to help fight and win the war. This is when our protagonist Steve Rogers is introduced who is small, weak and has many medical problems meaning he is unable to be recruited in the army which is all he wants to do as he has a big heart and want to help his country win.

One of the biggest contrast in the film is Steve Rogers before and after he takes the super serum as he physically and mentally must go through a lot of changes.

Physically he has gone from being a barely 5ft weak, skinny young man with many health  problems such as asthma to being a 6ft strong, man with impeccable health. Emotionally he nows has to face the fact he is his countries ticket to winning the war and therefore has a lot of pressure put on his shoulders. He also must say goodbye to his old life which is all he has ever known.

He also directly contrast with the villain of the film who also took the super soldier serum but due to his need for power and greed pure evil is created. Contrasting Steve Rogers who was chosen due to his good heart and soul and wanting to do the right thing. Here we are shown the two ways the super serum can be used and what can be created if it is left in the wrong hands.

The soundtrack for the film is incredible. Just like all good action films the soundtrack is there to make you feel as though you can do anything and the Captain America sound track is no exception. Specifically the Captain Americas theme titled after the film and star character. One of the most important part in the movie is when Captain America has just rescued thousands of soldier that had be captured including his best friend and they all walk back to their base camp that before had a very depressed atmosphere . Captain Americas theme is played and we see the soldiers walking back and it adds to the moment and without doubt the entire audience will be grinning.

Special Effects are vital in this film and the actor who plays Steve Roger; Chris Evans is not the same size of body type as pre- serum Steve. As Chris Evans wanted to do every scene, Marvel decided they would digitally reduced his height and body weight in editing but to do this had to use a body double in some scene to see how it would need to be edited, for example what would need to be in the background and how where other actors would be standing as well as how much the audience would see of them when the characters appearance had been changed.

I feel that Marvel did this film incredibly well and made sure the comic book fans got the characters that they know and love and were not disappointed.
